One of the big attractions of a holiday in Costa Blanca, Spain is taking a boat trip along the coast which is punctuated by magnificent limestone outcrops. If you get lucky you might get to view dolphins as in this clip. It takes a little while to get going but stay with it as there are some super images.

The Pont d’Avignon is located spanning part of the river Rhone in the south of France. It is one of the most visited monuments in France and a good deal of its fame comes from a catchy little song written way back in the 15th century. Chateau in France don’t come much better than the magnificent chateau at Versailles. I had the privilege of spending an evening dining in the amazing hall of mirrors courtesy of the French Tourist Board some years ago. The staff were dressed in period costume and we had a small glimpse of what it would have been like to live like French royalty in the sumptuous Versailles chateau. It was certainly one of the most memorable evenings of my life.  This clip gives you a good idea of what a regular visitor can expect to see at Versailles.

Jousting on water is an ancient Provencal sport dating back to the middle ages. The activity has retained its popularity over the years and is now a firmly established sport practiced all over France and particularly in the harbours of the south of France.

Marseilles is one of the biggest and most famous harbours in France and it is in the majestic setting of the old port that the water jousting takes place. This year it is on the 28th of August.

Toulouse summer festival takes place throughout the city during the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August. There is a wide range of music on offer from the likes of French group Duanshaq who performed last year to more high brow classic and opera. In short there is something for everyone.
A city renowned for its high tech aerospace industry Toulouse is also steeped in history and on the pilgrimage route to Saint Jean Compostel. A university city it is young and vibrant, a very enjoyable place to visit.
